There are four different “1 Sec” vocal versions.
The original by Novelist, which was officially released by XL Recordings and has a video directed by Simon Halsall.
There is the “FabricLive VIP” alternate vocal by Novelist, which talks specifically about fabric nightclub, appears on Mumdance’s “Fabriclive 80” mix, and was also released as a vinyl sampler at the same time as the CD.
Then there are two alternate versions that were recorded as a dubs for Mumdance’s DJ sets and were never formally released: an AJ Tracey vocal version and a version by Nottingham’s MC Snowy.
Mumdance speaks the opening quote of “1 Sec”: “It started in a small club and now it’s in a big club….”
Novelist and Mumdance worked together multiple times from 2013 to 2015, releasing a string of well-received tracks.
They also toured and did a number of shows together over this period, which were known for Mumdance jamming live on his Roland TR-909 drum machine and Novelist freestyling over the top.
